Q: My Samsung TV doesn't work with an HDMI cable?

A: Many Samsung model LCD and Plasma TV's have an issue with the "handshaking" comunication that is required with the HDMI Standard.  Call with the model number and we'll help you!

Q: My BluRay player does not display an image!

A: Most BluRay players will not display HDMI and component video at the same time.  Some players automaticly switch to HDMI if a HDMI cable is connected.  If you switch to a component cable, the image will not come up.  You can usually reset the player or reconnect the HDMI cable and switch the input back manually in the menu.  Also, some players need a software update to play some of the newer releases.  Check the manufacturer's website to see if an update is available.

Q: My Sharp Aquos TV picture keeps getting brighter and darker when playing a movie.

A: Many models of Sharp Aquos LCD TV's use a process called OPC to enhance the contrast of the image depending on the amount of light in a room.  Depending on the set-up, the image can even affect the amount of light the sensor picks up.
To disable this feature, go into the menu, select picture, and turn turn the dynamic picture off.

Q: Should I have a HDMI cable run to my TV?

A: That depends.  HDMI is the newest protocol for delivering high definition digital video and audio to your TV.  If it is easily accessable, it would be a good idea to run a HDMI cable from your receiver, cable box, etc to the TV to prepare for the future technologies.  This is the only way to ship the format 1080p from a BluRay player at this time, but cable boxes, satellite boxes, and up-converting DVD players only display 1080i, which is able to run over standard component cables.   Also, it is very hard to see the difference between 1080p and 1080i on most TV's, especially on a TV that is smaller than 52."
